If Roses Be Red

Rose are red, irrelevant that is true,
When all of your life no one's ever loved you.
Sugar may taste sweet but life falls incomplete,
When no-one you meet recognizes Virtue.

Candy is dandy, but sex don't rot the teeth,
It's only your morality you bequeath.
So you join on in and revel in the sin,
But your only kin is the pain deep beneath.

Unfazed by the crazed in the hazing of life,
You brandish scars proudly, and toy with the knife.
But sorrow depicted is the worst wound inflicted,
As all hope is constricted when dignity becomes strife.

You anguish in contempt, whatever you do.
Misery is your Love and Malice your due.
Life being the nightmare no dreamer could share,
If roses be red, fare then that blood is blue!

Michael Anderson

And after-drunkeness of soul
Succeeds the glory of the bowl -
An idle longing night and day
To dream my very life away

Nice art, micheal. Reminds me so of abstact art...that is more close to reality than life..

It seems to me, this jaded piece,
enacts upon wounds most deep...
although its a shame,
that darkness doth claim
the prize of the Valorous kind,
for oft it is said, "its all in your head"
when in fact..
it's absorbed..
in your heart..

Blueblood indeed. As with the term, I feel somewhat archaic, as if I have been born too far into the future. My lot lies in the past.

This is a richly striking piece you have written. 'Tis one of my favorites I think.

Striking indeed- an attention getter in the first line.

I like very much...
But sorrow depicted is the worst wound inflicted...so precise and very true. Well
Done.

Nicely struck, M.
Unfazed by the crazed in the hazing of life
Hurt so often, it became a part.....

I must stand with Dream on this. I fear often that I was born centuries too late. As to the poem Michael, aother deep masterpiece, with meaning buried and convoluted. And quite pertinent I believe.

Chris, I think we,(Dream, you and I), were all born at least a century too late. This was written for Dream for those of you who may not have figured it out.
