Full moon in the sky hung low
Which of you will be the first to go?
The lover the dreamer or demented fool
Who be the last into the pool

Sharp as a knife, but large so
Reflects the fear it loves to know
Poised and ready for your blood
Deaths descent will start the flood

Screams, agony pierce the night
Stop! Give up your mortal fight
Step up, be proud, and smile as you go
This crowd feeds on the fear you know

Your sins were living and that can't be
Your names will all go down in history
Frenzied mob out for your death
Cheering and laughing at your last breath

A basket awaits your final reward
Blood covered, fully adored
Just say your one last prayer
A glittering steel hangs in the air

And me? Well I have Watched it all
The great nobility of Frances fall
Huddled cold and hungry in your jail
Awaiting a savior, a ship to sail

Approach the scaffold. Now don't be shy
It will all be over in the blink of an eye
Adult and child alike I've seen
Just call me Madame Guillotine

Wonderful poem, intriging, and flows well.

Great historical topic choice! so much richness in the telling. I can almost smell the perfumed victim/oppressors.

Very good, I often wonder...which could tell more a grusome tale...the executioner..or his instrument..
