Purgatorial Incarceration

No Hope

Cabalistic frenzied feeding
evil sweats ‘neath it's own ill
laughter raucous never-ending
devour quick not slow nor still
time stares down no crystal halls
where faith shatters fragile souls
e'en noble bravery falls
crossed ‘gainst balanced poles
malice kindness anger bliss
god's blessing satan's kiss
mankind grasping for happiness
a failure borne with expected miss
pallid hue of twilight heart
argent blaze of emaciation
emerald eyes of hate impart
no hope for emancipation

Chris, this is a wonderful piece. Even in my dizzy, half asleep state, the poem flowed quickly and wouldn't have let me quit reading even if I had wanted to....which I didn't Structure aside, I thought it to be a wonderful depiction of society today. Great work.

See? What did I say: I knew it was fantastic before I even read it!
You know - I really love the way you crafted this line: god's blessing satan's kiss.
I also think it works really well in the middle of the piece - it's quite symbolic.
Faith shattering souls - how? Do you mean LOSS of faith - because faith, even if it is misplaced, nourishes - deliberate paradox here? You have achieved your most desired end - producing thought!! Bravo, my dove!
