Deep Sleep

The eyes grow heavy.

Sound is distant
and unfamiliar.

Sleep is all you want.
Strength is gone.
No one there to help.
Lifeless thoughts wondering.

Light is hazy
and dimming.
Breath is slow
and gasping.
Wishing it would
all just end.
No comfort
from anywhere.
Body going numb
pain so harsh
not completely felt.

Light grows darker.
Only sound heard
are thoughts.
Eyes close
darkness settles in.
You take
your last breath
and slip away.
