We kneel before the sacrificial rock.
We revere Odin the All-Father's priests.
The sacred Oak rises from this hillock.
This sacrifice to Odin ensures peace.

First will the Oak become our altar.
By her feet do we hang a virgin maid.
The priest holding the blade does not falter.
Hair pulled back, her milky throat is displayed.

A quick slash spills her blood upon the ground.
Oak's roots drink it down into the rich earth.
In unison our hearts start to pound.
Reverence is how Odin judges worth.

The rock is the altar we turn to now.
To it is brought one taken in battle.
Fealty to Odin we seal with this vow.
For sacrifice do we keep such chattel.

He is bent over the rock, belly first.
A priest grabs hold of each arm and each leg.
For his part in war the priests do their worst.
The descending knife always makes them beg.

With the first cut he bellows out his rage.
With flayed open back he looks not regal.
The lungs the priests pull out through his ribcage.
He has been given to the blood eagle.

I have seen the rite of the Blood Eagle written about many times but this was the best! Very well done brother of my heart!
