VOICES

Where are they now, voices so sweet
That used to sing to me at night.
As sleep befell in glim retreat
Silk angels dancing in moonlight

‘Twas I, alone, needing the words?
For none near me could share the pain.
With fireflies and humming birds,
I walked their endless night in vain.

A price to steep to keep on caring,
Emotionally worn, physically spent.
I damned the gifts they were bearing,
And into the black forest they went.

Now, I stand on my own - at peace.
But, nigh, in pieces, all alone.
Amiss harmonies sweet release,
My song falls flat in monotone.

Now I know it's them I failed,
And to think they had chosen I.
A presence I cursed and assailed,
And now, without, will surely die.

Listen well to your voices my friend for they are your Muse. Just as they are for us all.

Silence is not always either bliss or golden.

Now and forever my heart hears ~one voice~.

Ah...the common malaise when city-folk visit the deep country. No traffic sounds, no airplanes buzzing buildings, no construction, no city breathing. Yet they want the peace and quiet...or so they think..and end up breaking out their radios and t.v.'s, cranking those bastards full tilt, and going on a killing spree...all because the noises they thought they didn't need were the very ones they did.
