CONNECTION SEVERED Connection severed; lesson learned: Turned back into the dark, you left me dangling precipitously like some insipid question-mark; How would you act if you felt you were spurned, could you take it as easily if the tables were turned? Which of your actions will you continue to defend, now that it’s already past the end? The driving force that was behind a smile so pristine quit working like some obsolete, throwaway machine-- even though the contraption caused me no end of hurt I can’t just shut it off and bury it in the dirt a faint aura remains of the energy that made it turn, it’s glowing like an ionized beam: it sizzles the skin and burns I won’t look directly at it, so, then, what have I learned? A lesson enjoined, factored by one, as a child, taught not to look at the sun but to preserve the eye, make it last so turns the eyepiece towards the past But nothing’s there to comfort me, it’s dark as far as I can see- the path where I’d normally not fear to step now dimly lit with uncertainty So step into the dank unknown I must But it's better than being locked here in this hell Where I don't know what's good for me And no way to win that I can tell But it's alright, I've made it this far And I'm not afraid of the dark anymore No, I am not afraid anymore-- Connection severed; Lesson learned -- 9/96 |

But it's alright, I've made it this far I'm not afraid of the dark any more. This comes really close to my feelings lately. You have a way w/words... ------------------ Helewes |
