WALK AWAY

Sometimes I just wanna walk away,
Sometimes I just wanna give in.
Sometimes I wanna go to a playground and play,
Like a child I've never been.
I wanna look to the sky and feel the sun-
Burning its warmth hot on my face.
I wanna know if I'm the only one-
That's ever felt this out of place?

I can hold the whole world in the palm of my hand,
But who could stand such a burdensome weight?
It saps my soul, yet who could understand-
What facing this world can dictate.
I dwell in hate and pain and shame,
Still no one can hear or see-
The voices in the wind that call my name,
Or the shadowed faces that taunt me.

So, alone, in stone cold disarray,
I wait another day's arrive.
And silently pray in a perverted way-
I'll no longer be dead, yet alive.
I can't go out, I can't stay in,
Don't wanna be awake, but cannot sleep.
Nightmares, heaven, hell and sin,
More promises I just can't keep.

I feel the cold hands of evil spirits pressing-
Through my skin with apprehension.
Grasping at my soul, consciousness regressing,
I must be nearing their dimension.
I sense laughter, ah, children at play,
I must be close to that door.
If I could just find it and walk away,
Mortal hate and pain and shame no more.

Nicely done. Life is indeed a balancing act and the number and complexity of things to juggle often makes one want to walk away. Thank you for putting this into verse.

Fabulously deep with emotion & pain - I'm working on a come-back for this one....to you. I could feel your anguish & taste your tears.

Goes to show you what treasures you can find;
when you are digging in a graveyard of words!

I too feel those cold hands. There must be a door here somewhere...somebody get a light over here. Great stuff again, M!
