For my entire life,
I have been searching for home.
Home is where you belong,
fit in, are accepted.

Home is where the heart is,
old timers say.
Home is where your hat is,
was always my sly reply.

As a kid I wanted home,
a place to belong,
to be me, unconditionally.
I never found it.

As a teen, I searched,
for that place for my heart.
That place that say to me
you are finally home.

Thirty-five now,
thinking I found it.
But merely deluding myself.
Never allowed to be me...
partially? Yes. But not completely.

Dark currents run unexposed,
for fear of driving you away.
now you've left, I suppose
and this house we hold
feels less like home than before.

Very good and very sad, JP. I've always thought home is where you feel safest. Whether it's in someone's arms or alone in a chair....hard to redefine throughout our lives though........I don't mean to sound corny, but you will always have a home here!

To me, home is the place where you can be just plain YOU & still be loved without restrain..-sigh-
