Over Coffee

I wonder if Juan Valdez or
his donkey, have any idea
what they have done for my life
or the cafes I frequent.
Though I feel quite caffeinated
alone sipping beans mugged
and handled nicely to hold
just under eye level to peer
the other patrons (people watching is such a joy)
I wonder if I was famous
would they feel my stare
to offer me the purchase of a Latte..
Grande of course!
or a tall might be the order….
Robert

Yep, starbucked again! It's amazing that those little cafes have become so popular. I think it's because they don't mind us hanging around, they create an atmosphere where we are welcome to sit and ponder the world.

There was an article once on the social value of doughnut shops.

Can you imagine the social value of a doughnut??

People felt they "belonged" when they were there. You know what??? I do when I eat at a doughnut shop!!

Well, Robert...I drink my two cups at home usually...and stay away from those coffee places...coffee any later then early, keeps me awake at night, but...people watching, do enjoy that...also your poem!

I guess I am gonna have to pull up roots and
go camp out at one of them.  You have peaked
my interest of something I do so much enjoy
each day....almost all day...

Thanx..

I think I'll go to Mo Jo's today

I have a coffee-sipping, people-watching need now because of this poem

Slip a little Irish Cream into mine, Robert, and I'll go starbucking with you.
