walking the surreal

Can a soul cry in sorrow
Though brimming full
Of joy and blessing?

Can a heart pine for company
Though surrounded by others
Interacting, yet left alone?

Can a mind be lost for direction
Though the path be well marked
And footsteps follow in submission?

Can the truth be found
When perhaps lies are lived
In compliance of a deception?

What if what we are
Is what we are told to be
But not really what we are meant to be?

And what if, the what ifs we ask
Aren’t really what matter at all,
But merely a thought of possibility?

How then do we know
That we walk the path of truth
Of our own accord?

And that it is, in fact, the truth of self?

How then do we know?

S.A.T.

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

More introspection, methinks.
Good questions all.
Only the hardiest of us
answer with truths.

a stinker of a thinker....good write,  so
many thoughts to ponder...I knew this would
be good as soon as I glimpsed the title..

as long as you still question, then you will keep changing your mind and path..even if only slightly...and you know, nothing wrong with change
i enjoyed this

Thanks for your comments and kindness.  I think sometimes I think too much.  At least I'm not alone in this.  Hugs to all.

Great questions...sometimes, even when we know the answers, we still need reassurance. It's okay to question, to discover, question again, then when you're done, you're done. Meaningful search within your words.

Sincerely,
Reg

Ah, dear Susan . . . I think that if we can be alive yet dead, have it all yet nothing,
have love but not - then yes is the answer to all the above, and I believe everyone has to answer the final question for themselves as only they know the validity of their answer.

Gads . . . you've hurt my head Susan...but I loved the write...

Ah Reg, you are so right.  Deep down I think we know the truth, but it is coaxing that truth out of ourselves that takes work.  Thanks for your thoughtful reply.

jwesley, you too have spoken truth.  And yes, we must answer for ourselves.  Sorry about the headache -- maybe you should go lay down.  I have a great talent for setting minds to spinning

Best to you both, dear poet friends -- Susan
