Whittle me

  caressing my grain,
  undressing my bark;
  whittle me plain
  When can you start?

                  Once
           attached to a tree
            a limb, a part;
            then unemployed
            of branch depart

                      No phloem, no xylem,
                          a hunger asylum
                              in which
                         I dare not stay

          SO

Whittle me into a walking stick
that I might shoulder your day.
Leave the gnarls and the knots
for longing hand to grasp and weigh

I liked this one a lot.
It kind of seems as if you are refering to some exotic dream. very very good i like it

miscellanea,
That puts a smile on my face. Nice...

Sometimes I find myself feeling simply impressed in wonder at the talent of a creation and wish I could find such an inspiration.  This is such a time.

yes, terrific write, especially fond of....

Whittle me into a walking stick
that I might shoulder your day.
Leave the gnarls and the knots
for longing hand to grasp and weigh

so tender and lovely, this should be a song.  You are extremely good, will be reading you more.  Thank you for sharing.

Once upon a time I seen a walking stick the color of honey. All knarled and crooked polished to a high gloss. What a beauty it was.
Like the poem.

Now, this is one where I can say,
I truly wish I had written this.

Susan,
    I appreciated these words, and felt I needed to respond.

"Sometimes I find myself feeling simply impressed in wonder at the talent of a creation and wish I could find such an inspiration.  This is such a time."

   It is not talent, but a driving heart.  I have read your poetry and find it astonishing.  The words here (and all my words), I would gladly trade for a fresh start!  But, somethings are just not in ones hands...perhaps the walking stick would be.

When I saw the title, I was reminded of my one attempt to make my own walking stick... I still have it even though it's split... and hell to move. *G*

But your poem leaves me with smiles from another source... there's a lot of love here and it's written beautifully! *S*
