something about that regal
with her long legged chrome
and barefoot dressup for sunday

when her windows were down
bare seat shoulder strapless
how her metal fit my hands then

she was a white dress pickup truck
with running boards
at a dirt road truck stop

a lay down coke machine
with cold water on the hands
and mirrors on the windows

sometimes I could see me
looking back in her reflection
seems we would both smile then

recognition was what made our heaven
