Mesmerized,
the lilies, as they gazed upon you fair.
Agonized,
the clouds sighed, letting little tears.
Scrutinized,
your words, fell softly on deaf ears.
Realized,
     those words, after many years.

Lilies hold their secrets’ sum,
and watch the clouds roll by.
They see the truth of blooming love
And soak up all the sighs.

I should have known then.
The rain was showing so.
I should have known then
     to never let you go.

Oh, to be alike a lily
     grow silent under sky
to grow and show my color
and see it in your eyes.

But I was entranced with the speed of youth
     and immortality,
     invulnerable, invincible, unaware of need.
While
     mesmerized,
those lilies, they gazed upon you fair.
They found themselves within your eyes
and loved that you were there.

desert flower looking for rain

i want to tell myself that loving this piece has nothing to do with the fact that lilies are my absolute favorite flower .... i don't need to say it too loudly though, because it's true.. it's not the reason. but damn, if you did not do such a wonderful job. and... to make me forget that it was in rhyme is truly something!

i hope this ramble made sense! :-D

Snow, you are a sweetie to say such nice things about the poem.  I love lilies, too, especially the fragrant ones.  Thanks for posting.   ...jo

Jo~ This is without a doubt my favorite of yours...I loved the format, the rhyme, and the words as intertwined....
(I love Lilies as well...)
You out did yourself with this one and I am saving it!

jo, oh my, this is beyond good.  This is incredible.  I have not the words to express how much I like this piece.  Guess "WOW" will have to suffice.

Now it is not often I want a poem to go on and on, but I did this one.  I felt like it was the prologue to the start of a book of floral poetry.  Could be?   Iliana's Garden has a nice ring to it?

Jo, this is perfect. Definitely one of my favorites of yours. I love the rhythm, the images, the message, I love it all.
A feeling of loss, though... and I hope things are okay for you.

Poets all, I sure am glad you are all here and really appreciate your thoughtful remarks on the poem.

PS to GG:  I am fine, sweet one.  This was mostly musing (with memories of feelings added but maybe not in the same way they happened....if that makes any sense.) Thanks, though for your concern.  Really, I'm fine...but that other situation regarding my friend, I appreciate your prayers.
