Will you gift me
With but one drink
From the brimming wealth
Of your silver cup
Overflowing

I am parched of thirst
My soul wasted dust
Bitter from life long drought
No tenderness flowing
To quench the ache

My lips bleed
In hopeless supplication
For but a small respite
From this withered creation
One calls existence

Will you gift me
With but one drink
For your virtue is most sweet
And your essence pure ambrosia
Offering succor to this thirsty soul

Please, I but ask
Only one drink
From your cup of kindness
Overflowing

S.A.T.

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

Ummmmmm, we could all use a drink of that, I think.  Beautiful poem, Susan.   .....jo

When I read you, the first thing that happens is a smile...the second is a sigh.
Well done.

A beautifully brilliant poem....if only one could drink and offer the drink from the cup of human kindness...thank you...

Dear poet friends, thank you for your kind replies.  I was feeling grateful the other day for what a full life I have, and how some lives are so barren and they wish only for a little kindness.  It was a fun peice to work out and play with.  Thanks for the appreciation.

Hugs -- Susan

Dear Susan,

I was at once impressed and edified by the beauty of this poem: a beauty fashioned through your skill in maintaining a flow that is so unerringly in accord with its tone of, well, supplication.

I was struck by the many appropriate images and the soulful tone which more than justified your excellent choice of the title.

I look forward to reading and enjoying more of your poems and savouring your poetic voice often.

Patrick.

I can't imagine a No to this....don't want to know anyone who could conjure it....and if I ever could imagine, it would be time to make some supplications of my own.
