To a removed Florentine place she's gone,
Erosive starry skies veiled her leaving,
Resplendent and engaging like the dawn,
Swallowed in the pattern time was weaving.
She spoke her leave-taking to winter's cold,
Than abandoned me to these glacial climes,
The slender Elba-princess, whom I'd hold,
The child-woman who lives on in my rhymes.
She met the daystar there upon some hill,
Her hearth looked o'er the Ligurian Sea,
Were the dreams that called her forth the Lord's will?
It seems the old landscapes obscured my plea.
I cherish her leap, if not the farewell,
But my heart can't bridge where lived my Michelle.

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!

Very beautiful Kevin...I can feel the ache in this piece.
Well done!
Hugs~

Something tugs at me, I've no doubt of that.
Something from the sea, whichever one I'm near.
When I stray too far from beachland, it calls me back

EV2,
It's so hard to let those you love be free, but sometimes you just know it in your heart.  If it's meant to be, it will return.  Gee, I wish those bridges could be made though!  Good luck to you, my internet friend.

This is the first I have read of your posts and I have to say your talent is well documented in the words of your poem.  I can attest to your feelings through your descriptive choice of words and structure.  The imagery is superb.  I will keep an eye out for more from you.  Thanks for sharing this one.
