Rembember when
the sun shone cancer free
and kissed your bones with vitamin D
and you swang shoeless as a mockingbird
with painted toes smiling into the sky,

and a field brimmed with all possibility
and you could balance on a cloud wisp
and stare into the dark with the
flight of a lightening bug;

remember when the grass climbed backwards
running away gleefully into the sky
and dreams flourished like bubbles
spreading across the ocean,
unclaimed and for the taking
for the beachbaby that smelled
the seas of stinking fish that stayed with her
finer than the pricey perfumes on the market;

remember when boys were still icky
and you and your friends snickered at their awkwardness?

remember life before a boy broke your heart?

Yep, sure do.  Oh so tranquil were those days before the roller coaster of emotions began.  lol...and once it started I don't believe it ever stopped so I could get back off!  lol.  You express your thoughts so well in this wonderful write.

Yup, I do remember the first boy who broke my heart, and can smile now, realizing we were so young...and the pain then, is surely not now...and more then that pain, I can remember, the positive that came from that friendship, even though he made a mistake...today, I have my son, and a grand daughter from that boy, who is now a man, who is married and has 3 children whom he adopted b/c his new wife's husband had died and he is a wonderful person, it's just that we were young, self absorbed, not nearly mature enough to understand, that people do make mistakes.

I don't know why I wrote that, but...those are the thoughts your poem inspired in me...
I guess what I'm saying is, people that we love will and do hurt us sometimes...and we should not take it as personal as we do, but more so, realize, that that person did the best that they knew how to do at the time.  And we to, have hurt others, unintentionally, and hopefully we learn from all, and go forward with a clean slate and knowledge of that hurt, so that we are more conscienscious and careful to understand, what we do and say and react, will hurt other hearts who love us.

Thank you for this mornings lesson and reminder....which perhaps you may not have intended it to be...but my friend and poet, this is what came to me from your words.

Love and hugs sent your way

Yep, I remember when boys were still icky...and sometimes I still am!

I love it when you turn introspective -- there's beauty in you we don't always see at other times.

Yes I do Michele...wasn't it just yesterday..
when the world was young.
Hugs~

Something tugs at me, I've no doubt of that.
Something from the sea, whichever one I'm near.
When I stray too far from beachland, it calls me back

inkedgoddess,
Each time I read your poems, they become more beautiful!  You're going to have me addicted to them!  The imagery took my breath at times.  Yep, sure remembered, but finally not idolized.

LeeJ.,
your response touched me deeply; especially the second paragraph.  It really touched home with me.  Thanks, Lee.

Some great memories those are for sure, everything was so easy then, too bad we didnt know what the world would bring back in those days.  Could've taken a few extra minutes and enjoyed life before we knew what it meant to worry about something more significant than recess or what time you could stay out playing until.  Thanks for the nice read.

inkedgoddess,

Enjoyed this very much. Yep, the good ole days! But, remember every day you are making memories, make them good ones.

Thanks for stimulating this old memory of mine.
