Ike and Spike

Now there are these good ole birds that travel south each and every winter.
They travel south cause they can’t stand the cold, ya see.
So they sit and call all their mates and off they go to the land of honey and sunshine.
Now I hear ya a sayin’, how do they call?
Well folks haven’t ya seen them a sittin’on them thar telephone lines a scratchin’ and a
tappin’
and a few other things all over your car.
Well they’s a callin’ up their friends gettin’ ready to move on to greener pastures, so to
speak.
Now ole Ike is a laid back kind of bird, easy come, easy go.
On the other hand ole Spike is a grumpy ole bird, kind of lazy.
You know the kind, grumbles about everything.
First a gripin’ bout birds a bein’ to slow, then they’s a movin’ to fast, can’t please ole
Spike.
It’s bout time those two ole birds to be a flying in.
Hey!
I think I hear them a comin’.
“Hey man sure glad to see ya-
Do ya ever think it’s goin’ to warm up?” Says ole Spike.
Ole Ike shakes his feathers and says.
“I don’t know man cause it seems like myfeet have been cold for months.”
“I know what ya mean Ike. Everywhere we fly this year seems to be cold.”
“Yeah! Whose idea was it anyway to fly south to warmth and sunshine.”
Says ole Spike. As ole Ike and Spike sit and shiver Ike says.
“Asked ma bout some of those insulated boots like the ducks wear down at the ole pond.”
Spike turns to Ike and says,
“ Yeah I asked ma too, she couldn’t find a single pair in our size.”
After a while of sittin’ and a chewin’ the fat they say in complete harmony.
“Man my feet are sure cold.”
“Come on.” says Ike. “Lets go visit down at the pond and find Mrs. Ducklett.”
So off they go a flyin’ as fast as they can flap. Ike bein’ the friendly kind says to Mrs.
Ducklett. “Mornin’ Mrs.. We was a wonderin’ if you have a couple extra pairs of rubber
boots, our feet are a freezin’?”
“Why sure boys come on over here and try these on for size.”
“Ah! “
Ike and Spike say in complete harmony.
“Warm feet.”
Ike with a smile upon his small little beak says, ‘Thank you Mrs” and Spike in his
grumpy fashion says, “Yeah thanks.”
The evening now is a gettin’ late andIke and Spike are a settlin’ in for the night.
“Man it sure is cold.” They say in complete harmony. “Wish we had brought heavier
coats to wear.”
“Maybe next year ma will knit us both a pair of winter boots and a pair of heavy winter
coats.”
Says Ike.
“Yeah!” says Spike. “Boy these boots do feel mighty fine, a little big.”
“Go to sleep Spike maybe it will be warmer in the mornin’.”
“Yeah! Night.” “Night ya ole grouch.”
“What do ya mean and ole grouch? I ain’t no grouch.”
“Go to sleep. Night.” “Night.”

Love BonBon

Silly birds...

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
