Beads of sweat drip down my face,
As I strive to be my best,
To trim down my thundering thighs,
And to raise this sunken chest.

I lift and pull, and bend and stretch,
At a super-human pace,
And the "music" is so irritating,
It puts a grimace on my face.

I'm moanin' and a groanin',
As I work through endless pain,
Will I ever knock that wall down?
~ Will I ever see some gain?

I'm lifting legs all over the place,
To 'booty'fy my butt,
I'm bending, crunchin', twistin',
To make a 6-pack of my gut.

When the workout time is over,
I avoid surfaces that reflect ~
My hair's all wet and stringy,
And my clothes are soaked in sweat!

'Tis not a pretty sight to see ~
My work outs at the gym,
And all that huffin and puffin''
Has yet to make me slim!!!

Dear friend, enjoyed the write, take it from one who used to exercise all the time when my body was able, eat right and walk, there will be less pain and more gain. Diet is the number one and walking the best exercise in my book, leave the sweating to others. Take care my friend.

Sincerely
Rick

Good morning, Rick! Actually I painted quite an unattractive picture of myself. I used to be a slave to the gym, but now I am much kinder to myself. I exercise moderately ie cycling, walking, swimming, hiking, whitewater rafting, canoeing ~ These are fun ways to get in shape. I can no longer tolerate the "sweat shops"! Mind you, I do have my own home gym but I use it sensibly and stop as soon as the feel good sensations turn to not so feel good ones! ~ and no one's watching me with expectations and telling me what to do!

Fun in the sun, good wholesome foods and love makes my world go 'round and 'round! In fact, I'm looking better and feeling better with my own routine that I have set up for myself! No more slave drivers!

Have a super duper day!

Ethel Mae ~

Well all my huffin and puffin didn't keep me from landing in the hospital a few months ago. As you know, I had open-heart surgery for a quadruple arterial by-pass! All that exercise and proper eating habits couldn't stop that truck from slamming me in the chest.

I have been very fortunate in the genetics department, but alas, the converse has also been true. Oh, well, one good thing is that I have had a very strong heart from the get go and now I have new plumbing. It has been difficult getting back on my feet because I suffered so many complications, but I now feel so young (well, younger) and vital and I still take very good care of myself ~ but in a kinder, gentler way. Moderation is the key to a healthy, balanced life! Don't overdo ~ and don't underdo!

Wishing you a healthy, balanced life!

Love,
Linda

I didn't know angels exercised. That throws a whole new light on the subject. How many times do you fly around the track? LOL

Mr. T. ~

It's just not fair! Here we "angels" are out saving the world and He gives us cellulite to contend with! Now where's the justice with that! lol

Oh, well. These wings are a pretty big perc so I shouldn't complain! They take me anywhere I want to go and in faster time than it takes for a lesser angel's halo to slip! tehe

As I write this reply, I am flyin in place, to keep my angelic shape! Hmm! When I come to think of it, that's more of a triangle! Oh, dear! I can't win for flying!

Love ya, T-Man!

This reminded me of an email I received not too long ago about a guy that received a membership and free physical trainer from friends as a gift.  He started stating how beautiful and amazing she was and how he would relish every moment working with and watching this athletic young beauty workout in her little outfit.  Well, every day his description of her was a little darker.  There was a correlation with the way she looked and the increasing pain he felt in his muscles.  The 2nd to the last day of training he could barely get out of bed and tie his shoes and ranted about what a witch she was, how ugly she was, how big her nose was, and all of her incessant drill-instructor like vocalizations.  The last day he couldn't get out of bed and if he had he wouldn't have gone anyway.  His feeling, that he never wanted to see that grotesque monster again, ever.  It was quite humorous.

I still get some exercise working on a production floor from dark 'til dark, hunting, and trying to take care of my land on weekends but as far as running, etc.  The Marine Corps suck the life out of me in that regard.  Eight years of being commanded to run myself into the dirt somehow made something I loved so unfun.  Still leaves a bad taste in my mouth but I'm trying.

I laughed out loud at your poem.  It was brilliantly refreshing to read.

Regards,

Kevin

Ah, this reminds me of my days doing cardio kickboxing mixed with Tae Kwon Do.  Whew!  Now I hike, and play with toys like guns, knives, bullwhips, tomahawks, and general kicking butt!  Lot more fun. Kinda a tomb raider meets Indiana Jones thing. Not as fine of a figure, but hey, guys sure do seem to think a woman with a revolver strapped to her hip is sexy.

Now that's what I'm talking about.  Nothing sexier than a woman with a gun, and/or a truck, and/or on a deer hunt, doin' guy stuff but able to be a lady when it's important.  Maybe it's the camouflage or the pretty red neck?  At any rate, Susan's activities are actually good exercise as well.  Gunslingin' can take a lot out of you.  Just ask Gunslinger.  Not that either of us look like marathon runners! Kevin ~

Your story broke me up! ~ and I can well imagine she did get less attractive the more pain she put him through! lol

Sounds like you have a pretty sound base to your physiology. You surely have been put to the test in the Marines ~ and you keep active to boot camp! Ooops! Cancel that word "camp".

Enjoyed your letter! lol

Linda!
You sure you aren't describing cardio therapy?

I don't think it's for you gut,
Or even to lift that gorgeous butt.
I think it's for another body part,
From which you write, it's for your heart.

So huff and puff until you forwn,
Or even blow the three pigs house down.
Just know that as you do,
You'll keep fit to keep on writing too!

You go girl... Sounds like a kodak moment to me.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

There's simply no place in my make up
That makes me say "muscles, please wake up"
I walk when I can
And sometimes I ran
But I'd rather my muffins would bake up.

Keep at it, Linda, your insides are beautiful.
