In youth we realize little of our body or our age
Regretting often moments when we reach an older stage

When young the challenge came by, that we would take and run
When older come their aliments and the pains that weigh a ton

I find that after forty is the time that many dread
The simple things get harder and we spend more time in bed

The dreams that were our future seem much further than before
And times of change turn scary, as we seem to battle more

What once we took for granted seems much harder to attain
And things we thought forever seem to struggle to remain

Life becomes a question, with the answer hard to see
Most days seem a hassle and the heart seems never free

We dream things might get better, but years keep passing by
Another lifetime challenge and another time to cry

It’s only hopes and dreaming that keep us going on
The smiles of our own children and the thoughts that we belong

It might just be our challenge that will pass in years to come
That we can say thank God to and joy in what’s become

It might just be small moments; it might be all that’s there
For all I know with only me, this time has come to share

But may time come tomorrow when again I feel life new
When I can see a future that is bright to get me through

This is a wise and beautiful write. I think pain ages everyone, no way around it. But sometimes, it can be taken with a sort of grace... and I see that you have taken it with just that
I love it!

Alyssa, thank you for your reply, we can not stop time, but go on as best we can, great to see you here, much appreciated.

Dixie, dear friend, great to see you again, don't dread it Dixie, be happy to get there, I may complain a little, but there are more good days than there are bad, enjoy your youthful years and don't let your heataches get you down.
Thank you for the reply, be well my friend and take care.

Sincerely
Rick.

Oh my, I do so feel this way. You always have a way of stating the emotional aspects of this time of life. Which I might add, is not my favorite.

Very thought provoking, well-penned, poignant write.  Reminding us all of what is most important in life.  Your writing is so full of life and important messages, agendas, thoughts.  Your words fall so profoundly on my eyes.  Thank you for so many reminders.  Regards from one who overslept today.

Rick - and it might just be those small moments that are the brightest. Also they are usually the ones that go overlooked. The old "stop and smell the roses" story. Everyday that we can wake up and breathe in the new morn's air is a treasure. I enjoyed this write very much. Chris

You're belonging quite eloquently...still. So very nice to see your words here.

You are so right on with this one.  I think these are reflections many of us have and you worded and phrased it all so well.   .....jo
