A growing panoramic ember fills the air
Like a brown and black tri-colored comforter
One of which I didn’t crochet…
Teasing moments of my arm chair
The ability to evolve wants me, it screams
Complaining about indulgence living with me
This internal monster seemingly bout 3 years old
Infectious and a one man carnival
Like a magical friendship of childhood
Just wouldn’t cut me loose

I sat for awhile in a giant oak tree
Oblivious to any syntax exploiting dialogue
With A “Professor” indifferent to workshops
And a guitar in his hand by default
Strumming of cold black winter oceans
Where I strolled once fevered in fiction

He sang bout a metaphorical cottage in another place
Obligated to be polite, a haven for logic
I allowed him to prove his gimmick
Batting my homesick eyelashes towards his music
With serious attention, chin on my hands

“Poverty makes a man”, he croons
While showing me the trailer from Terms of Endearment
Talking bout creative endeavors and sources in print
Showcasing work and its promotional competition
It was I who had the choice to believe
Cursing those ill demon deeds, smirking on my shoulders

The Maelstroms of half truths are hefty impressions
Destroying all direct growth for centuries
I pour wine on his feet while looking for the right words
He suggests, perhaps beginning is the answer

The gift of a common tongue is a priceless inheritance
Dissolving zoning boards forcing them to leave earth
I meld with all sexes & races of the world
Joint sessions find metaphysics in a dream world

Everything about our lives,
Is determined and influenced
By our views towards the Professor
I promise to crochet a pink and rose colored comforter
In hopes that it’s context comes suddenly alive…again
As I climbed down off that oak I wondered
What would it be like to know and be known by
The most potent, passionate being in the universe?

He may be infinite, but he is “not” compact

Oh, by the way, that arm chair,
is outside on the sidewalk, waiting for the trash truck
