My heart skipped to the song
Could feel my soul
Singing along
Intimate discussion
Could be in the offing
Mind and soul hugged
In anticipation of the possible
Then words clouded up the sky
Rain fell on the heart
The soul could only sigh
Words pointed a finger
At the unprotected center
Pain held sway
No intimacy today
The great fear
A soul and mind will erect
Umbrellas to keep pain’s rain off my soul
It wasn’t planned
Or was it I don’t know
It still does damage
So where from here
What’s the deal
The damage from unprotected intimacy
Is very very real
But I still want it
Guess the gain is worth the pain

Lots of thoughts within this....I am not
so sure the gain is worth the pain though.
Hi Paul....good seeing you!

You are right, sometimes it is. We think very much alike about this, but you wrote it better than I would.

Paul

When you are open for intimacy, you are open for all kinds of other things that might touch on pain, rather then pleasure.  In the long run, I think being open is worth it.  A good reflective poem, my friend!
