Joined together today in spirit, in the fields of the unknown
Leaving us behind with mem'ries, of the love that they have shown
Tsjip and Sarah were two dogs, whom we never will forget
Both had such a lovely character, they were wonderful as a pet

Sarah was a dog so tender, one could only love this girl
Tsjip was just a rebelleous teen, but in heart a precious pearl
We're feeling sad, without the grieve, for Tsjip it was the end
She couldn't walk, she couldn't play, the way for dogs was planned

Today she died in peace, she did, while laying under her tree
One little shot, that was enough, to let her spirit go free
She joined her sister Sarah, they will roam the fields above
We're closing this chapter of two dogs, to whom we fell in love

November 5, 2003 and June 15, 2004
May they rest in peace
our Sarah and Tsjip

Titia, you have spoken of all your animals with such love and compassion, so that is a testiment to them having a wonderful life with you both.  It is so hard to lose a pet, and even harder to decide to put one down as they can't speak for themselves.  However, if they are loved, always the right decision is made for them, and God bless you for having been these wonderful pets owner.  A heart hug is sent your way.  What a lovely tribute to a friend.

Yes, what icebox said...

Such a tender, loving write, Titia.
No wonder they didn't stray,
but stayed close to home and love.

One day, someday, their loving natures
will reside in another pup...
and you will know how that pup
found his or her way to you...

Titia,
I lost my dog of near sixteen years last month. It is a sorrowful day with many tears I am sure. Telling of your tenderness. But precious memories remain. I am thinking of you at your time of loss. God bless. Peace.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

It can be one of the most devastating feelings there is. You are looking at it the right way, dear lady. Your pets have found peace and they were blessed to have such a wonderful person like you to care for them for so many years....may they rest in peace

Your pups were blessed to have had you as their human mom, my friend... What dog's life could ask for more?  I'm so sorry you've lost them, Titia - They look like quite the dynamic duo indeed...

Oh, Titia ... I'm so sorry. Please know that I understand all too well how you feel tonight. My heart hurts with yours. The kind of unconditional love and devotion that a pet brings into our world is amazing isn’t it?  Of the many poems I've posted to the main site, some of the most beautiful and heartfelt comments I've received are from those I have written on the loss of a pet.

Each time I hear of the love and loss others have encountered, it warms my heart to know that I am not alone in these feelings.  They truly do become such a big part of our families.

Please take care, and know that you and your family are in my thoughts.

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

Thank you so much for your heartwarming comments. It's an empty house and that's a sad feeling because they had to go too soon at the age of 8. But we know we did the best thing for Tsjip. Although her mind was playful as ever, her body just let go with this disease she had and our minds are at peace with the decision we made to put her down. Sure we will have a new dog, but not this very moment, because Tsjip took all our time the last few months when we couldn't leave her alone anymore. So many things that had to be done around the house, we lay aside and we will attend to them now.

Titia,
I lost my pet cat a while ago, but I often feel her curled up in my lap when I fall asleep in my chair.

OhSweetie~
I feel your loss so intensely this moment~
I came in here because you emailed me and I wanted to share with you.
I KNOW just how much you loved your babies ... and they are always, but always our babies, aren't they ?

You are a giving, caring lady ... with a heart as big as any I've ever known~
My thoughts are with you dearest friend~

As you know, I lost my aunt yesterday~
As she had been in critical care for some time ... the decision was made by those who loved her most, her husband, son and sisters, to 'let her go'~
So, she went peacefully and now is at home with her Lord and Savior, breathing peacefully for the first time in a long time~

Love you and will be in touch~

Titia, I'm so sorry about your baby. I understand how close we can become to our pets. They love us completely and unconditionally. I honestly don't know how I would cope right now without my little four-legged baby. He is my friend and really does feel like my baby to me. I hope that you can feel my compassion through space, and the heart hugs that I'm sending to you right now.

Sorry to hear of your loss, Titia.  Last week we lost Sammy, our 14 year old lab and, silly as it may sound, our "pet cow", Dirty Face, probably about 18 years old.(Actually, she was a kind of a pet because she was the first of our herd.)  When it rains, it seems to pour sometimes.  Wishing you pretty thoughts and memories...

Titia, this was wonderful, I have dogs myself and have buried many which I loved, it is a shame they do not live for longer.
Take care my friend, I hope you can find others as they you have lost.

Sincerely
Rick
