Dear girley friend...wishing you a birthday morning just like this poem that I've come to realize is your favorite of mine.     Happy Birthday!!

Silk Lined

The sun is flickering on the floor
of the kitchen,
tossed about by lace
it catches at me as I cross it.

To decorate this aging
is no longer possible, but the wind
knows, just singing
changes the listener.

The mourning dove is calling now,
her dulcimer love song
sachets across the telephone lines.

I know if I catch it all
and somehow roll it round enough
to throw, this feeling will come back
and wrap me with its wings.

Then, perhaps I will be able to explain
why this time of day
makes me feel silk lined.

This is beautiful, as is the birthday girl. Seems like our thoughts are in the same place. I follow your lead Martie, with a poem for our dear JM.
Love to both of you

Doesn't get any better than this.  Truly lovely wording.  KJ

Not one of the girls but enjoyed it as much.  Very touching, perfect imagery as always.  A precious gift for a friend on her birthday, and to all of us that didn't get to appreciate it the first time around.

I beg to differ.....

The singing, yes that's very true...but you know my opinion of even the need for decoration, let alone the act...
