As does the single blade amongst the mown,
I stand in wait a harkening of souls.

Souls once riveted to the ground that awaited
their step as fear lay heavily upon untrodden
limbs.

Limbs that shook unmercifully in the wait as
eyes spoke of yesterday’s son, holding close
to a mother’s breast, hungering for comfort
and warmth.

Fear not child, for on this day thy name
shall ne’er be lost amongst the sands that
swirl the hourglass.

On this day a hand shall rest upon the
shivering flesh of one’s shoulder, bringing
forth a flowing well of bravery which
shall flood the earth and spread
amongst the timid, the meek who await
but one to take bravery’s step
into the waiting waters.

Come, take the hand of freedom, quell
the tide of evil.   Plant democracy’s seed
amongst the hallowed fields.  Walk the
path of gallantry.....as your father’s fathers
have done time and again across the ages.

For at the journey’s end...they await
you with open arms and hearts that
shall beat mightily on...forever.

Barry,

Your poem was right up my alley.  I find this a beautiful tribute to those standing in defiance of terror and tyrany and rising in defense of Democracy, freedom, and principle.  These heroes we remember, everyone of them, you and I, in words that are never cheapened in hasty creation.  We both are inspired by the same ideals, I think.  It is so refreshing to find others who lament, who appreciate, who rise in defense of liberty, who are inspired by trialed sovereignty and the heroes spirit not forgotten.  May God bless you for what you have shared here.  It was a moving tribute to what is most important to me.  If you really feel the way I do about such issues, I would encourage you to read, whenever you have a moment, some of my posts.  We are of the same cloth my friend.

Barry, this brought tears to my heart...amazingly beautiful.  I cry at weddings, when music touches my soul, the first time I saw a baby foal, our held a new born puppy, first born to my dog...when people are happy and excited, and to words as yours, so beautiful, insightful and so honest....how precious and profound.

Thank you

P.S.  You poets in Passions Amaze me, I love your work, your respect for others work, the sharing of tears and joy, and the courtesy you all display to others...PIP is a place where God lives....thank you

To understand and write of such courage, one must possess it as well!

~ and the talent to convey it as 'mag'nificently as you have done!!!
