Adrift in the Storm

Beleagured brother, adrift in this storm,
foul desperation has beseeched you
cry for this merciful abyss
to swallow your wanting soul.

Far too long you have wandered
aimlessly amidst decadent transgressions,
searching ever assiduously
for answers to questions unasked.

These questions have forsaken you
as they drift beyond reach with reason.
Clutch of the deadman, your act of defiance,
renders futile upon this driftwood dream
as it tenders its submission
beneath your sinking breast.

Shallow breath struggles defiantly.
Resolve beckons you above the surge.
The lighthouse in the distance
bids its hearty welcome to you,
"Fear not this abyss which summons you."

Sound disposition shall steady you.
If temperament feeds on persistence,
surely these waves of grace
shall carry you home.

Excellent. I like these thoughts.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Kevin, I took felt the sense of dark and light in this well written piece -- a feeling of foreboding and assurance was there -- your title, well chosen.   ....jo
