Here again in 1943 diner, her mind wondered
to salt crystals held in retro shaker;
She put herself in balancing act,
Mounding salt around;
She tried to change the center of gravity
by putting glass shaker on its side;
  But from side to slide it fell.
     (Occasionally, it stood.)

You've got that right, Sunshine!  But, hey, what would life be without challenge?  (answer key:  a lot more fun!)
   Thanks, Sunshine.

Big smile.  For me its towers of ketchup packages (tee hee).  Enjoyed this.

Eric,
   Glad you liked it.  I'm betting you've done that salt trick, too!

Susan,
   Never knew that could be done...wait until I tell my mature 18 year old.  Perhaps she can graduate to ketchup.  Thanks for responding.   I enjoyed your comments.

copperbell,
   I've gotta admit.  The creamers are pretty cool.

iliana,
   Hadn't thought about that...   Had luch in an authetic 43 across the street from where I work.  The lady who bought it has been looking for the perfect diner for 14 years! (Call that a fullfilled dream!)  She and her husband moved it from upper NY to southern OHio last year.

The pepsi company gave her those glass type of salt shakers to serve their product ( of course, with the pepsi emblem on them)  They're really cute.  I just had to be doing something while I waited for my order!  (No, I didn't put the salt on the table!  I just remember having done that a "few" times at Ohio State!  I just had to write about it!)   It's the physics interest
at peak,etc.

It's okay to pour salt onto the table and balance the shaker in it (even though I do remember from my waitressing days that it's a mess to clean up *G*)... It is NOT okay to loosen the top of the shaker so that the next patron gets a mound of salt on their food (especially if I'm that next customer!) LOL

Thanks for the grins... and the memories I'll never 'fess up to! LOL

gg,
  Let me know if you figure out a solution to balancing those shakers!  See you later. Take care, Alyssa.

suthern,
   I did a little bussing at a restaurant once.  Yeah, taking the lids off wasn't too cool of a thing to do.  Now, come on, fess up, you HAVE balanced the shaker haven't you?

I've read a little lately, but haven't responded to much.  I hope everything is
going well...

Enchantress,

   You are a sweetheart.  I'm always glad to hear from you and read your work.  I'll try to catch up on my reading this week.  I'm looking forward to searching for your poems and those others who I've missed.  Thanks for dropping by.

Paul,
  It is good to hear from you again.  I have been looking for your name when I scroll, but have noticed it's not there as much as it used to be.  I hope all is going well with you and yours.

Goodknight,
   I see.  Your muse will return...until then, I'll just have to be patient.  Smile sent.   Yes, it has been raining a lot, but was in the late 80s we had the most terrible drought.  I swore I'd never complain again if it rained!  Hm... I may rethink that!
   Glad to hear from you.  Enjoy your travels.
