(i know its not fall yet but just a thought that poped and i couldnt leave it)

Ode to Fellow Leaf Stompers

The crinkly, crackly sound
of parchment leaves
being stomped, crushed,
and crumbled
is a happy sound.
It is a sound
unique to Autumn.
Only during the fall
can vibrant colors
be made to pop and snap,
and make rosy-cheeked
leaf stompers smile.
Those who produce
Autumn's chorus
are truly happy
in fall.

LOL, it seems we have a poetic chorus waiting in the wings. Add me to the line, please.

Ah, a return to childhood.  Perhaps I'll have to try it again come fall.  Thanks for the smile.

My best friend and I used to write on these parchment leaves with what we called "fountain pens", now a thing of the past!  My friend died a few years afterward.  Somewhere I still have the leaf notes after forty years.  Pretty special parchment!   Thanks for bringing this about.
