For many years I have heard those words
"You have MS" is all that I heard.
Yet..
I walk with no limp
I speak with no slur
My vision is good
I see with no blur.
Yet..
There is one symptom I live with each day
It's the guilt that I feel
for living this way.
So many others' symptoms worsen each day
And I have been sparred.
What I feel are relief and thankfulness
and HOPE for all others
who suffer from MS.

Feel no guilt, feel blessed.  My friend developed MS, declined, recovered and has led a so called normal life.  It is a blessing indeed.  Best to you --

You shouldn't feel guilty but rather blessed.
And it's good to SEE you!

cliched perhaps, but, live life to the fullest. once you take advantage of the chance you've been given, i guarantee any guilt will pass. may you live a long, happy, interesting life

I too have MS with none of the obvious and outward symptoms. I was dx about a year ago with a second opinion dx in March. My biggest complaint is the fatigue and difficulty with fine motor skills, like typing.

Please don't feel guilty. If you'd like to email me, please feel free to do so; I'd love to chat with you.

Hugs, Marti

Hopefully, Amanda, in your time and life, cures will be found, and you will remain "symptom free"...

and I will pray for that day!

It is even hard sometimes to live, while so many are dying.  I understand your guilt, but please be happy with being symptom free and enjoy the chance you've been given.  My best to you!

A poignant write, tequila.

A disease that strikes more women than men. Be thankful you haven't the symptoms. The whole auto-immune disease thing is so mysterious and evasive to research. I wish there were more successes with this and other auto-immune conditions like Lupis.

Thanks for sharing this brave write.

Survivor guilt is very hard on the soul;  it is similar to being the last one standing.

I wish you well.

You might want to do some reading on what are called traopical oils: coconut and palm, and their effects on the immune system.

This is a great write about something we all need to be more educated about.  Thanks for sharing.
