Watching Time Go By

Taking long strides to wear off the tired,
settling down watching time go by.
He sidestepped the kiosk, peering over,
smiled then stood beside me to lift me up
with his words.

Words of another poet, I thought,
as he enticed, luring me into a discussion
of times and places of long ago, of past situations
and a bit of history, then and now.

Easily, maybe too easily, I pull others to me.
Having captured many a conversation on that bench,
I wondered if it was my very last, as I folded
and tucked away the piece of paper handed me.

Electronic doors opening, then closing behind me,
a backward glance to end the evening's intent,
and the sun...going down.

Sounds like one of those days when you're left with a sigh. Time has a way of doing that I guess, especially when we sit back and watch it from a distance.
Hope things are going okay for you.

Always, Alyssa

PS. What are you doing up at this hour?

Hi Maureen, as always I like your heart write.
And, this that you told Alyssa......

then usually go back for an hour or two of "good sleep"

Isn't that just the best sleep there is? I can be up late at night, go into a deep sleep, then awaken, and go back to sleep for just an hour and feel rested more than the longer time. Odd isn't it?

Take care, sweet lady.
