This Intrepid Valley
For my wife

Through this intrepid valley I walk,
while lightening cleaves our baneful night.
This never-ending storm forays across my valley's walls
while the biting rain sears my weathered cheeks
and the thickening mud grapples at my weary feet.

And as I look upon my horizon,
I find an endless abundance of tangled webs
to impede my encumbered path.

And the countless times
that I've fallen on my knees
amidst the fury of this storm,
I find myself risen again
wrapped in the light of her infinite love.

Where once I saw only foreboding snarls
I find her, lantern in hand, lighting my way
far beyond this loathsome path
to the solace of our lighted home.

And, at that moment,
this fury ceases.

the sky withdraws its stranglehold
on this forlorn vastness above me
to reveal her beauty so intensely
that it rivals those celestial heavens
eclipsing this evening's star.

She, adorned in silver light
lifts me beyond the mired thickets
of my fruitless battles
Her strength beckons me
to press forward on this troubled path.

Its because of her in all her grace
that I continue to forage this valley floor.

And, though the skies may dim,
and the storm may wage its war with me
I press on.
For her.

She is with me always
in the darkest of hours.

I turn to her and find my home
waiting with open arms
and endless love.

Though I travel this valley floor
burdened by the trials
of this intrepid night,

Though the skies
at times do not withdraw
to reveal her celestial self
or her gilded hand
she is with me;
ever driving my spirit.

carrying me forward,
I am never alone there.

What a beautiful love you've depicted... it's not just for the good times... the good times are because it is. *S*

What every woman dreams of -- to be a good man's angel.  Most beautiful and touching write -- (and congratulations on such a find).   ....jo
