Billy wants to tell him but the truth is intense,
He knows how it happens wish it made more sense,
Driving by a motel he saw them going in,
His best friend's wife with another man
They've been friends together since they entered time
But sometimes there's things a man would like to hide
Can't figure how he did it commited such a sin,
Cause he's been with her too n afraid of losing him.
Chorus:
Some things a good friend can't take to the grave
Sometimes a good friend has to lose to find their way
Some things are cruel when the truth is hard to face
but there's no deceit in heaven where the final mercy waits

Billy tried to soothe his conscience thinkin she'd make things right,
Cause he knows his confession will destroy a happy life
But his heart keeps kicking over knowing everything,
Is pointless if secrets are all that friendship brings
They've been friends together since they entered time
And he'd want to know the score somewhere down the line
Billy knows mistakes make deception an escape
but in the end a true friend can't carry such a weight.

Chorus:
Some things a good friend can't take to the grave
Sometimes a good friend has to lose to find their way
Some things are cruel when the truth is hard to face
but there's no deceit in heaven where the final mercy waits

Bridge:
As little boys they'd use flashlights in their windows,
Makin secert signals cross the street from their room
They set the world aside like another planet,
And through the growing years their friendship tried and true

Chorus:
Some things a good friend can't take to the grave
Sometimes a good friend has to lose to find their way
Some things are cruel when the truth is hard to face
but there's no deceit in heaven where the final mercy waits..

some things are so true they make you stop and take a breath... ( being on the other end of this situation as the wife not being told)

sometimes other people aren't real good at keeping their skeletons in the closets...sad for the people that get to see those bones

Great write, ethome.  Made me re-evaluate a situation that happened many years ago.

The old morality song...
second verse,
better than first...

Well done, Sir...
