I heard this morning your time was near
And that was news I hated to hear
Though you've been out of sight for years
We still feel loss, can't hold back tears.

Twenty years ago, you gave a speech
For those who'd landed on Omaha Beach
In your way, you also changed history
Never sacrificing your integrity

When gunshots rang, the whole world prayed
But you resumed duties, unafraid
Where you once stood tall upon the screen
With the mantle of power, you were serene

I have no doubt your lovely wife
Was at your side, for you're her life
As we grieve now, no words will do
Except for "farewell" and "we thank you."

Suthern, this is a beautiful tribute.
I really liked President Reagan and Nancy.
I can just imagine how she's hurting.
She was always by his side.

Only you, could paint a tribute to a man loved by many and do it in such a way that raises the national pride and spirit.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Thank you, Laura. This is something I have been feeling since I heard that news, and you share it so perfectly. That loss is more than the loss of a person or a President. It's the loss of a living symbol of how things could be, and of a love that overcame so much, and stayed strong.

I can think of words I'd rather hear from you on a Sunday...or any day...but these are a blessing.

Thank you, suthern.  I'm glad, so very glad, yours was the first tribute I've read.  I'm sure there are more...but I've been having some problems on my end, with not much in the way of free time to read.

You did an excellent tribute...

His loss has been an ongoing thing, but stll the loss of this man is a loss to the world.

President Reagan is a good argument for cloning....If every President were anything near what this man was...the whole world would be a far better place...I salute the man and poet who paid such a great tribute.....

Toe: Thank you, my friend... Perhaps this just proves that expecting a loss doesn't make it any easier.
