If tonight was the last night
     of Atlas’ heavy load,
If the world ceased its turning
and wind no more was heard,

If songbirds flew into the clouds
     never to return,
If rivers stopped their flowing
     and no more fires burned,

Would I sacrifice my will to yours;
     would I give my heart to you;
Would I run and grovel at your feet,
and confess my love is true?

I testify now before the law
of light that owns the show
About the only truth I see
the only truth I know for sure.

I raise my right hand to the court
     and swear this honestly
That all that ever mattered,
     all that ever matters is

Your boundless love for me.

Guess there isn't anybody you'd will that kind of love to!
Love like that makes living seem worth it...
and I'll bet that's a mighty good feeling
Excellent writing, as always!

Thought provoking poem. If the world would end tomorrow how would I spend it?

My last will and testament.
I would gather my son close.
I would gather my fur babies close.
I would write a poem of this last day
And hope and pray that the powers that be
Would not end this turning of this
Beautiful planet called earth
If my life must end
Spread the love I have held within
And give to the hurting soul
So he/she may live.

Good Jobber
Hugs BonBon

BonBon -- thanks for the post; perhaps others will like to write what their last will and testament would be -- maybe you have started something.  (Karilea is correct -- there are layers to this poem; just capitalize a few letters.) ....jo

Jo,

One of your best!  Lots here!   Inspired I'd say, although all your poetry is great!
This had such an effortless flow to it, but carried such depth.

Wondrous enduring question:  What would we value most were the world to end tomorrow for us.  Surely my kids and grandkids and some truly great friends.  Not a bad gathering.
Very thought provoking.  Nice job.  Ken

JamesMichael - Your a gem to take the time to stop by and read the poem.  The poem really has a layered meaning (one of a spiritual nature) but I wrote it like a love poem.

Kevo - Already posting, WOW!  Thanks for reading and taking the time to post your thoughts which are so kind. It makes me so happy!

If today were the last day
No more tomorrows near
I'd hold on to my family
and friends I hold most dear
For in truth we own no other thing
of value or great worth
than those who share our lives
here upon this earth.

I do so enjoy reading your work
