Mr. Right

A full flickering moon’s reflection
Shimmers on her freshly washed dishes.
A million stars explode in ebony,
Like those long lost summer kisses.

Her body, and mind so full of day’s weary,
Sits down, sinking so deep into though.
She misses her friend, and also her lover,
Knowing full well that she should not.

He gave his love freely but she turned away.
Somehow he'd failed a checklist she'd made.
He was so smart, lovable, funny, and kind,
How did she think that he'd failed the grade?

She wiped away a tear in her eye with a sigh.
She won’t need to worry about him anymore.
While looking for that perfect man in her life,
She sent Mr. Right, right out of her door!

Sometimes that happens, doesn't it.  Enjoyed the writing, Mysteria, and hope Mr. Right comes back around.

I felt the pain of lost love in your words Sharon. Sometimes it's hard to see what you've got until you lose it.

But he kept his door open for her anyway, didn't he?  He was indeed a smart one... And she surely entered when she dared - Also a smart cookie.  Both smart enough to cook up some wonderful memories...

Wonderful, truthful write here Sharon.
Sometimes we don't realize it was Mr. Right until it's too late.

Ain't that the troooooooth! The wrong man keeps a woman from finding the right man ~ or letting the right man get away!

As Erma Bombeck wrote, "The Grass Is Greener Over the Septic Tank"! So often we do not appreciate what we have in our own back yard and look for that greener grass which can turn out to be septic to us!

I'm sure this poem will be a wake up call for some of your readers.

A responsible poem written with flair!

Big hugs to a fellow Canuck!

We're all wrong at some time - right others, and hindsight is such a learning experience, wonderful teacher, if only next time we remember the lesson . . . then again, is Mr/Ms Right truly that or an illusion fed by someone we perceive to be less . . . isn't Mr/Ms Right truly the one we keep? (discounting the ones that go bad in the process, that is).

Kind of the story about the one that got away, isn't it - he/she always gets better and better.

Loved this very apt,  well written piece Mysteria - as always.

Yep!  Ain’t it so.  As the song says: “You don’t know what you got tell it’s gone.”

Good one!

Since I love happy endings...
Please wipe away the tears cause Mr. Right is very wise and knows of your fears. Mr. Right hears the pain that is hidden in the corners of your mind and will return to your embrace.
And love will flourish happily ever after.
See I told ya I love happy ending.

I am quoting Earth Angel here ~

"The wrong man keeps a woman from finding the right man ~ or letting the right man get away!"

Now that is the truth!

Just a poem ladies, although I have had my share of Mr. Wrongs, and Mr. Rights.  Funny thing is, and at the time, loved them all the same       Thanks for reading this one I woke up with it in my head in the middle of the night (see, night rhymes with right - that is how a muse works I guess?)

Nan, you know me far too well - that is the last time I stay with you that long - whew, says Nan!

Sharon,
So I'm confused. Was Mr. Wrong standing in for Mr. Right? Or did Mr. Right keep going when he saw Mr. Wrong? And what was wrong with Mr. Right anyway? Was Mr. Wrong dressed like the big bad wolf and it coulnd/t be figured out?

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Well told story, too often too true for both sexes.  Ken

All to often (at least in my lifetime) and certainly in one man I can think of - we find fault with someone who doesn't meet all the criteria we have set up as that perfect Mr. Right or Mz. Right.  I truly now believe that if we expended more energy into accepting them as they are, and embracing it (as trust me, there is no Mr. or Mz. Right) we would have one big, happy world!

Thanks again for reading.

"A million stars explode in ebony,"

This line about knocked my socks off, drenching them in immediate emotion!  Very powerful line!

Excellent.
