In memory of my dearly loved father

* * *
I walk slowly through the door
And brush the cobwebs away
Your shed was once your refuge
A place you came to every day

The smell of cedar oil
And wood carved long ago
Your place of quiet contentment
Where your skills were put on show

I once watched you as you worked
Your hands were cracked and dry
Fond memories I now relive
As a tear escapes my eye

I inhale familiar scents
As I stand amongst my thoughts
You were a gentle man of peace
So many lessons you once taught

As I glance around your workshop
It is your presence that I miss
Memories come flooding back
As I stop and reminisce

* * *

"We sat together for what
seemed like hours.
Our hearts were so finely tuned
to one another that we
felt no need to speak"

I am in motion
I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you
