Le Casbah Cafe (Algiers)

I never said I didn't like Algiers,
it was the Casbah I had a problem with.
Once you get into it's mysterious
grip its hard to get out.
How many nights have the bright
lights of Paris reached out to me.
Yet here I am stuck in this darkness,
the murky Casbah has its grip on me.
And it won't let me go, oh I know
I can leave any time that I wish,
but I don't wish to spend hard
time for my French crimes.
So for now I stay in the Casbah.
Boring days, equally boring nights,
but ever hoping from the walls of
this city that a new day will
accidentally let in some light.
If only she would come to me, a
Parisian beauty to set my heart free.
Parisian women are such a delight,
she could brighten even a Casbah night.
For now, I start and end my day
at the open air tables of
Le Casbah Cafe.

I"ve got a few more of these Casbah one's but not too many people seem to like them...oh well, ther're already written and I'll post them someday...not too far away...incidentally, I wrote these after watching the old movie "Algiers"...the plots are mine own but could have easily fit into the film...James
