The black sky peers down on long dead bones of men, and birds and animals. Sun brifely flashes on the black fields, quicker than eye, bleak moors of monochrome. Wild grass, isolated black tree, twisting forboding skies, bright luminescent tempest. Dark wastelands of sheer beauty, horizons of desolation, dreams as black as jet. Granite rocks, jagged, angled, smothered by snow. Land of grey shifting shapes. Mirrored water seen from afar, doomsday clouds pass overtop. Cattle graze fields of hard black stone. Woods tangled with dead light. Trees strangle long dead industry, scratching thorns tear, rip, angry wounds. Unforgiving land of darkness, of toil, of bitter winds. Drystone walls like black serpents. Animal bones bleached white with acid soil blacker than stormy nights. Trecherous steep slopes, wet black with rain. Tussock grass, shaggy and hairy, clinging to the sloping hills, scattered with granite boulders and rocks. Toppled hard concrete grave crosses, among a ruined grey church. Nothing here but black hard stone. |
