in the shadows

0 posted 2004-05-26 11:23 PM

I stared through empty shadows,
windows dusky dark with age;
fleeting images,
stark bubbled memories
swelled within my brain
screaming,
"Hey, come here you schmuck,
come watch
and feel,
your past is still alive,"
but like flying cheap glass ornaments,
falling
from a leaking sky,
they dashed themselves
on mindless rocks,
where reality mocks the hopelessly optimistic;
no more could they enlighten me,
no more could they survive.

no more could they enlighten me,
no more could they survive.

I've heard that (and I paraphrase) called a spiritual death and I've heard we go through several before we're done.  Dark, but not.  Sad but not.

I read the title and thought:

"Oh, no way would I go there"

"where reality mocks the hopelessly optimistic"

Very cool line, love the title too.

Is there karma, really? There's Joss, I know that, because I've had both kinds. But it seems to me that karma is mainly a matter of choice.
