I watch as the sunlight strokes her face softly She laughs, the kind of laugh that starts from her mouth and reaches her eyes She doesn't realise I'm watching her with love For she is too consumed with good-bye She is more beautiful than words could ever say Never will she see the beauty that reflects from her soul I tried to be the shield of her pain Never have I loved another more or ever felt so whole I reach high and wide to find the words to show her how I feel The words I love you seem so empty, surely there is something more But I've looked through a thousand words in Webster There are no brilliant words to help her soar It's almost as though she enjoys the sadness Perhaps it's because it's all she has ever known So why is it with her I truly feel alive In such a short amount of time, I have grown... The day will soon end Night will surely fall So I will tuck away this perfect day Bracing myself for her next self-constructed wall Maybe if I shout the words She'd finally realise what I say is true I watch as she falls sound asleep And I whisper the words "I Love You" "When life gives you sorrow, may you experience the spirit of laughter" |
