Glendalough

This lake, calm and serene
In lyrical perfection
Its liquid excellence startling in glory
A place of spell binding serenity
Feeling my soul caressing, stroking
With its gentleness, its peace and calm

The air has a taste of wonder
A sprinkling of fairy dust that illuminates the atmosphere
In crystalline clarity
Reflecting black beauty
That shimmers with magic
And Oh, oh that lake!

A place of astounding wonders
Where beauty resides eternally
Trailing her silken scarves of awe
She touches her shores
Casting nets of enchantment
Enthralling all who gaze upon her

Her mystical powers of persuasion
Charm and enrapture those who care to view her
Through the touch of a dream
All are held spellbound
by the echo of her eternal and eerie beauty
Such peace and serenity
Flows across the water
Winding through my soul
In my mind
Enthralling, capturing, holding, but just lightly

The stillness is dropping into me
Like a stone dropped into a well stretching on to infinity,
Entering, sinking and becoming a part of me
Until the wonderment rises up and fills my being
With its quiet certitude and calm

Glendalough, place of two lakes
Picture perfect in every way
A mirror of calm
Whenever my soul sighs in weariness
A place of healing peace when I am heart sore
My mind will return and wander on these shores once more
To reflect on the lyrical perfection of this lake

Dear Marsha, I knew that the poem would be a
beautiful picture before I even opened it...
I was not disappointed. And this ending sums
up the perfection of the poetry. Such a
calming picture of words, this is. Thank you.
Hugs,

(oh, and it's a keeper for me, too)

Sis,

Few write like you! Your wording and
description here are beyond words...

"The stillness is dropping into me
Like a stone dropped into a well stretching on to infinity"

This line especially shot right through
me! Stunning writing...so good to see your
work again. I've missed you. Sorry I've not
been around much. Take care. Hope to talk
to you soon.
Love you,
Amy

The pics you sent are beautiful... but they're almost superfluous... your words have more depth and layers than a camera could capture... *S*

This is incredibly lovely... one of your very best! *S*

If I said it was magnificent, would you believe me? Yet it is anyway.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

A serenely beautiful and meditative piece of enchanting writing!
A place I will frequently visit!

To peace and serenity ~ and to that little piece of heaven on Earth, "Glenalough"!

P.S. You look like Jayne's Mansfield in that adorable pic!

It sounds lovely, indeed.  This is a peaceful quiet poem, one for contemplation.
