What do I decree of worth, to leave the race of man?
Just what does temp my very soul to see?
Is it true our worth is only seen but when we come to die?
I cannot see that that’s how it should be

Is it doubt from satans cellar that does curse us not to yell?
To say here world I am come join my time
It drives one to obscurity, to where thoughts only rest
And poets to the pen to find a rhyme

Life truly is a test to all, but many don’t ask why?
So many live their day-to-day till end
How many in their own space find the need to want to cry?
To otherwise seem happy and pretend

I feel our worth is measured by the way we treat mankind
The way in which we’re spoken of when out
By how the inner you reflects the way that others see
The way we’re treated when we’re out about

How can we simply leave a mark that signals to the world?
How can we somehow leave a treasured trace?
That mankind can reflect on with some vision and respect
To offer and to guide the human race

The past has built the present with each one of us a block
All helping this world grow to what will be
The builder finds the odd block that stands proudly carved with thought
And those blocks are the ones that people see

We all can make the difference; it’s only the degree
But wouldn’t it be great to be the one
To feel you’ve left a vision or a story to be told
To be remembered by what you had done

Rick
It would pass with change and time. LOL
We cannot funnel our remains to the specific
But to the general fund. Enjoyed

"Is it true our worth is only seen but when we come to die?"

No, but it does feel like that from time to time.

It is true that it takes death to clear the fog of personality from the air so that we each may see clearly the steps we have taken and weigh their measure accurately.

Beautiful reflections, dear Rick. Yes we can make a difference, especially by diffusing love.

Hello Rick

Your words have always been a constant source of inspiration.

Here is something for you, 'tho not written by me.

"Through you I learned how
great life can be,
how the simple things in life
are really the most important
and how you treat other people
is really all that matters"

Take care.....Sue

Boy did I need to read this.  I needed to be reminded that it is through the loss of self in service of others that the true self is found.  Thanks.

Rick,
I've often wondered if I've left any marks to better the world.  At a wedding this evening I ran into a person I hadn't seen in seventeen years.  The person cried when she saw me and told me little itty bitty things I had done that left a lifetime impression upon her.  (I don't even remember having done those things!)  We never know what a positive affect we have on people!
You leave a legacy just in your writing!

Rick, I enjoyed your contemplations.  For me, we all leave our marks, whether they be bad or good, only God knows.

Hi Dixie, nice to see you again, thanks for the reply, hope you have been well.

Margherita, great you could visit, as always nice to see you and your reply.

Dear Sue, I am glad I can somehow inspire, great to see you, thanks for the words as well.

Dear Sunshine, thank you for your reply, with pleasure I read you words.

Dear Enchantress, alway nice to see you here and read your reply, thanks for that.

Susan, thank you for this reply, I needed to read your words and appreciated each, be well and take care.

Sadie, you may be right, we may leave marks each day without the knowing, I fear that many of those marks might only be found or spoken of when passed, the words you heard would have made you feel good about yourself I am sure. Thank you so much my friend for your reply, much appreciated.

Illana, great to see you, thanks for the reply and your time.

To you all my friends, again thank you for your replies, each and everyone was very much appreciated indeed. May you all be well, take care.

Sincerely
Rick
