Visiting Earth on a Guest Pass

Muscari

“Why now?” I asked them.
They looked at one another
as only flowers can look,
bobbing their lumpy blue heads
in the breeze and whispering….

Finally one turned itself to me
as if I were a sudden sun.
“What’s planted late blooms late,
or not at all,” it said,
clear as only flowers can say.

“It’s true I planted you
in March, but as you said,
why bloom this year at all?”

Fat blue flowers laughing at me
as loud as only flowers can laugh.

Perhaps the gardner is a sort of sun. I loved the whimsy in this and the idea of you talking to your flowers and them answering...it happens!

“What’s planted late blooms late,
or not at all,”

Tis true, but the question begs to be asked, why we tend so carefully.
Perhaps we anticipate that sense of well being when we least expect it,
when those tiny buds become a riot, in full bloom.

Much enjoyed,  Ed~

Oh, my friend... this is an absolute delight! *S* I dare anyone to read and not smile. *S*

As for the "why now?" *S* I have flowers this year I didn't plant... I think because I needed them. *S*

Excellent write! *S* (I'll be imagining how a flower chuckle sounds the rest of the afternoon! LOL)
