A River called Poetry

Slowly I let the words slip o’er me
Their structure smooth in flow
Of a poet’s passions and prayers
The rapids of emotion grow

And this ship, my mind
Which sails across the worded Sea
Reveals vast oceans of thought
And alternative realities

A heart slowly breaking
A sorrowful acre tilled
A sharing of silly laughter
A soul touched and healed

The river of imagery runs deep
Through lands of truth and myth
Words tumble as polished stones
Washed down the waters swift

And the current of this river
In its honesty and its breadth
Buoys my world weary self
The poet’s most precious gift

S.A.T.

I do so enjoy immersing myself in the work of so many talented poets.  Thanks to all for sharing.

How impossibly perfect! I loved this poem, especially as I read it after indulging myself in poetry for two hours. How fitting.

And the current of this river
In its honesty and its breadth
Buoys my world weary self
The poet’s most precious gift

and i'm certain that if i drive into those trees, it would make less of a mess, than she's made of me...

Susan:
The capture of these golden thoughts is impeccable.  Each line, each word, each verse flowed just as the river does inside.
Absolutely wonderful write.'

Know what I've seen lately?
So many poets writing so many good pieces...
it puts my muse away...

I've been wanting to comment on this...read it three times...but was that busy and couldn't get to it. Making time tonight to catch up with the ones that make me say...

I wish I had written this...
