For Her

I would do anything
that time permits,
her thinness wearing on me,
wishing that clock would not tick so loudly
this head aching for relief
from thoughts that rise above the necessary
whispering...hurry.

The hugs hurt me more than her,
bones see-through in my mind
wishing I could shed some of my fat
and gift it to her, padding her in comfort
and leaving me a little less
for wear...hurry

No tears yesterday and none
until tomorrow when all falls back to me
and I am found cowering here
and there...sharing moments
fear showing its face, and the shivering
that walks my body is neither from the cold nor heat,
but from the rushing of thoughts
wishing for a time warp
or a miracle
or hope...
for the one who has
