Crimson Tide
By Larry Chadwick
Hope springs eternal

I was standing in the crimson tide of grief,
My mind a blur with thoughts of disbelief.
I thought storms were usually pre-announced,
But out of nowhere this storm had pounced.

Stained by that which I had not expected,
The crimson tide left me utterly dejected.
I looked down at the swirling crimson tide,
Because of it a part of me had died.

I had to keep my balance, I dare not fall,
Death was giving me a personal call.
Already it had taken what I valued most,
And left me feeling empty, almost like a ghost.

I knew that my full attention was required,
Lest the crimson tide took all that it desired.
I raised my eyes and looked up to the sky,
This crimson tide was not my time to die.

It was as if the sky had opened wide,
To purge from me the crimson tide.
I heard Him say “He knew that I was stained.
That by this crimson tide I had been pained.

I must keep my eyes transfixed upon the cross,
That is how He gave meaning to my loss.”
Then I knew that all was well,
The crimson tide a momentary hell.

Don’t look down you will despair,
Keep looking up He is always there.
And if the crimson tide comes rolling in,
It’s but a moment and He’ll be back again.

This really hit home Larry ... too often, we can be overwhelmed by sadness at the unlikeliest time, and become awash in our grief. I'm glad you've captured the reminder that during these times, if we look "up" we may find some comfort to help in the journey. Such a beautifully heartfelt write. Very much enjoyed.

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

Chris,
You're welcome. And thank you for reading.

Karen,
Thank you dear lady. The crimson tide was just a thought flirting in the fog during the night. Usually there is no recall the next morning. But this one stuck so I used it. And I think of you a bunch. I pray all is well.

Dark Angel,
Thanks for the hug. I can use all I'll get.

Nancy Lee,
The opportunity comes seldom but is a joy. And thank you for reading. Miss ya'.

INclan,
I think this is the first we've met and you've been here so long! What is wrong with me. And thank you for reading.

Kit,
See. Now that's what I mean. I find your character as striking as your writing. I wish I could find the words that tell you how much you touch my life. Thank you for being my friend.

Alyssa,
Thank you and so true. I heard the other day a saying that suggested a person could not be trusted until they knew this kind of pain. Made me stop and think...

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

For some things...there will be no "warning" ... some losses are so great, the impact knocks the wind out of us. For reasons we may never fully know--life tests  us and there will be no preparing...We have seen you stand in the eye of the storm, we have seen you pass the test, and then set the example of handling heart-loss with dignity and a quiet resolve that became a force of its own. We learn from you...we grow in your light.
We thank you for that.

" Well it seems as if we've been thru it all and back again ...
now I know there'll be something more ...

No more tears left to hide ...
We have made it thru a long and lonely night.
Better days ... are on our side ...
Well it looks as though we're doing something right."

I love you more the further I go ...
before this existence ... you were always here inside of me.

This has such power and beauty in its words... but knowing the paths you've walked in its writing adds such poignancy. There is much strength here... in poem and poet. *S*

Oh, Larry, you are one great big vessel of love and how I wish the red tides of sorrow would cease trying to sweep you away. Time is a great healer, my friend. I, myself, am coming to believe that.

Sending you a bubble of loving pink Light,
Linda

Lauren,
Hopefully by July. And thank you for such kind words.

JM,
It's the once stained always stained thing. I mourn for others differently now. And my minds covers this topic in my sleep. Which is where this poem came from.

I'm not trying to preach to the choir, because I know you know. I think there is recovery and I have that. But you don't get over it. The object now is to share. Perhaps there is value for others in my suffering. Just know that I am well and will never cease to be amazed and blessed by your friendship and insight.

MERCURY,
Thank you.

Ruth,
You are a kind and gentle friend. Thanks.

Linda,
Bless you. I gotta say that is my first bubble of pink Light!
