BETRAYAL

Forgive and Forget
They say
Let bygones be bygones
Move on

How can this be?
Your words
Like daggers pierced my heart
To bleed

I trusted you
In total
My eyes blinded by your smile
Not seeing

What guile lay
Behind you
Hidden from my understanding
Such deceit

I was gone only a moment
You acted
And when my heart lay wounded
You retracted

But things shall never be
As before
For I’ve seen you now
I know

Forgive and forget
I’ll try
But even so –it will never be
The same

wow, this is true about so os many people I know. Sorry to hear it's true for you, too. Excellent writing of it, though...

Always, Alyssa

...I am a girl of tears.

You spark such feeling and a need to respond of a heart to heart...
When you feel alone in this, know that many have shared disappointment...betrayal.
There is a moment when two hearts face each other and traverse the past in the name of love, or depart the trail in the name of pain.  Forgiveness is the embrace of acceptance in my eyes...just a thought.
Loved this in it's honesty and purity.

Happily this betrayal, though painful and stunning in its measure, was not from one of intimate standing.  Ne're the less, pain is . . . and words are the tonic.
