Leveling Out

Sweat pours off,
the heat of the moment
making the field of vision
a window to yesterday's thoughts.

Acoustical variants sparking
the seeds of, rhythms
balancing the internal emotions
wishing to emerge unrestrained.

Unblemished memories to wear
as the working dew covers me,
and the game is played in the shadows,
the spirit of which has the scent of hunger.

Courage, I remind myself.
It takes courage to stand on my own,
to own my feelings and to dance
in my own style, to the rhythms
that balance the many moods of me.

Love this Maureen...and it does take courage for sure.

M!!!

I have been wondering where you were, have you posted and I missed it?

This was wonderful...such strength comes from the recognition of ones own abilities..

Thank you Nancy

Susan, I have been to Tennessee and back
(with a gift of a newer car...) and have brought my Mother back to spend some time with her elderly sisters and her daughter/ my sister while my sister is still capable of enjoying us...

so, it has been a round trip of 1000 miles and traveling back and forth of 100 miles daily to the next state over, until my Mother returns to Tennessee next week. So my time is sparse on here, but I am reading you and everyone else, even if I don't reply much.

Thanks for caring,

M

I believe it take courage, too, Maureen -- in some cases, it is survival instinct, too.  Good poem.
