Those times we read each others minds
Across the spaces in between goose bumps
Chuckles and giggles held the reigns of day
And I never for a second doubted

And something in my voice teased the petals open
You covered yourself as a virgin caught bathing
I knew I had touched upon a tender spot
And I never for a second doubted

You pushed off shore but left the anchor tied
In my own way, I hopped into the water carrying the line
When you took it from my hand, you growled but I heard song
And I never for a second doubted

Preparing me, basted in demons of clouds and stringent mists
Out to prove that man feels only anger or lust…but never softer
That I saw gentleness, and fear pierced the shield
And I never for a second doubted

That I told you how I loved you took such courage
Knowing you in the spaces between
Though you admonished me, denying any feeling
And I never for a second doubted

The gravity of love is stronger than the pull
More telling than the lips could quiver back into the open mouth
More full than oceans in the heart that cry out and repeal
And I never for a second doubted

You are the love of my life

This is beautiful. I loved it. I am glad to be back here too. Sometimes it takes me awhile to even think of new poems anymore.

So beautiful, Kathleen. Some things we
just know, don't we?
