You know
I read the papers and
I hear the news
All you politicians fighting
arguing
Where to spend this million
Where to cut that
Yet still I'm here
In the heat and the sand
Bullets and bombs
define my every waking moment
Fear is a steady diet
And home is just a heart clenched
memory
I listen to your boasts
and I listen to your lies
I listen to your promises
and I listen to your stabs at each other
And I can't help but think
Soon one of you will be
my Commander-in-Chief
You will literally hold
my life in your hand
Do you think that just once
you can remember that?
That you can look into the eyes
of my mother? my wife? my kids?
When you explain why you didnt
vote for extra armor, or more planes?
When you get up there and ask me
to vote for you?
Do you even know who I am?

stupid politicians...crooked evil little punks

Can you hear my cries, can you hear my pleads, will you watch me burn...or would you bleed for me?

This was powerful writing.  I can't think of enough words of admiration to describe how great you captured these emotions and questions.  Simply...amazing.

Priorities first.
Excellent read.
